PMH RESUMES NON-EMERGENCY SURGERIES FOLLOWING THE OVERNIGHT INSTALLATION OF A CHILLER SYSTEM IN THE CRITICAL CARE BLOCK

The Public is advised that all Non-Emergency surgical procedures for the Operating Theatre at the Princess Margaret Hospital will resume normal operations with effect on Thursday July 18th, 2019. All patients whose procedures were canceled during the temporary suspension will be rescheduled appropriately.

Persons needing to follow-up or make inquiries regarding surgical procedures can contact the Surgical Clinic at 322-2861 Ext 2288 or 502-7489, Monday through Friday, 8am - 4pm.

Services to the Operating Theatres at the Critical Care Block (CCB) were suspended on July 12th following a compromise with the cooling system for the CCB. Full restoration of the system following the installation of a rental chiller unit, was conducted last night.

The installation of the 250-ton rental chiller unit will provide service to the CCB during the upgrade of the new permanent chiller system at the hospital. It is anticipated that the installation of the new chillers will extend over the next five (5) months. As a result of the impending works, the main driveway to the Legacy Entrance (former main entrance) of the Princess Margaret Hospital (PMH) located off Shirley Street at Burnside Lane will be closed to vehicular traffic.
