PHA Refutes Irresponsible Social Media Post

The Public Hospitals Authority cautions the public with respect to fake, misleading and irresponsible information posted on social media regarding the ongoing construction works at the Princess Margaret Hospital. The Emergency Department entrance was not closed as a result of flooding from a ruptured pipe.

As previously announced, major renovation and improvement works at the main Emergency Department entrance at Elizabeth Avenue/Sands Lane has required the temporary closure to vehicular and foot traffic effective January 13th. Emergency and critical trauma patients are directed to the hospital’s Maternity Entrance. Walk-in emergency patients and visitors are directed to the hospital’s main entrance in the Critical Care Block.

Non-emergency maternity patients seeking to access PMH maternity services are directed to the hospital’s Legacy entrance. Members of the public are encouraged to utilize community clinics for non-emergency care.

Construction works are also taking place near the Maternity Entrance where a Trauma & Emergency Triage Window is being prepared (see attached photos).

The Authority will continue to provide updates to the public for the duration of the improvement works related to the Urgent & Emergency Care project
