Dosage Administration:
Adult: Dietary supplement: 50 to 100mg a day. Child: up to 4 years of age: 20 to 50mg a day. Treatment of deficiency: 100 to 250mg one or three times a day.

Indications/Special comments:
Hypophosphataemic rickets. Persistent hypocalcaemia due to hypoparathyroidism or pseudohypoparathyroidism. Prevention of vitamin D deficiency in renal or cholestatic liver disease.
Dosage Administration:
Prevention of vitamin D deficiency in renal or cholestatic liver disease: Adult: Initially 1 microgram daily, dose to be adjusted to avoid hypercalcaemia; maintenance 0.25 – 1 microgram daily. Elderly: Initially 500 nanograms daily, dose adjusted to avoid hypercalcaemia; maintenance 0.25 – 1 microgram daily. Child 1 month – 11 years (body-weight up to 20 kg): 15 – 30 nanograms/kg once daily (max. per dose 500 nanograms). Child 1 month – 11 years (body-weight 20 kg and above): 250 – 500 nanograms once daily, dose to be adjusted as necessary. Child 12 – 17 years: 250–500 nanograms once daily, dose to be adjusted as necessary. Hypophosphataemic rickets; Persistent hypocalcaemia due to hypoparathyroidism or pseudohypoparathyroidism: Child 1 month – 11 years: 25 – 50 nanograms/kg once daily, dose to be adjusted as necessary; maximum 1 microgram per day. Indications/Special comments:
Reversible airways obstruction, acute severe asthma. Note: Avoid rapid intravenous injection. It should be given cautiously, particularly in patients who have previously been taking theophylline and/or ephedrine.
Dosage Administration:
Adult: Slow, I.V., 250 — 500mg (5mg/kg) over 20 minutes, or diluted with 10ml of water for injection. Maintenance—if required, 0.5mg/kg of body weight per hour by slow I.V. infusion for a period of 24 hours only. Child: Slow I.V. 5mg/kg of body weight. Maintenance: If required, 6 months - 9 years: 1mg/kg of body weight per hour by slow intravenous infusion. 10 - 16 years: 0.8mg/kg of body weight per hour by slow intravenous infusion.

Management of reversible airway disease due to asthma or COPD.
Dosage Administration:
SC: IM: Adults: Asthma– 0.1 – 0.5mg (single dose not to exceed 1 mg); may repeat every 10 – 15 min for anaphylactic shock or every 20 min – 4 hr for asthma. SC: Children > 1 mo: 0.01mg/kg (not to exceed 0.5mg/dose) every 15 min for 2 doses, then every 4 hr.
