Indications/Special comments: Treatment of slight or life threatening cytomegalovirus (CMV) infections in immuno-compromised patients, and for the prevention of CMV disease in transplant recipients.
Dosage Administration: Adult: CMV retinitis: IV infusion: initially 5mg/kg 12 hourly infused at a constant rate over 1 hour (10mg/kg/day) for 14 - 21 days. Maintenance: IV infusion 6mg/kg/day for 5 days /week; or 5mg/kg/day for 7 days/week.
